Healing Graves’ Disease Naturally

If you’ve landed here, you’re probably ready to do whatever it takes to feel “normal” again. Seven years ago, I was standing in your shoes, diagnosed with Graves’ Disease. Without going into too much detail, my journey to wellness was a series of trials and errors. Today, I’m proud to say that I’ve had normal bloodwork results for the past three years, all achieved naturally and without medication. I feel fantastic! I’m sharing my story to empower others and show them that they can achieve the same results.

Before we dive into the details, I want to clarify that I’m not a doctor, so please don’t take this as medical advice. It’s important to continue getting regular bloodwork and never stop your medications abruptly. However, the steps I outline here can help you work towards reducing or eliminating your medications, potentially leading you to feel more like yourself again. This is the method I used to naturally overcome Graves’ Disease, and I’ll walk you through it step by step. I recommend some products below. These are things I use daily. As an Amazon Associate, I may make a commission on these products at no extra cost to you. Thank you for reading. 💜

FIRST THING FIRST…WHAT ARE YOU EATING?

I wrote a blog about why the AIP DIET ISN’T WORKING FOR YOU HERE that may help you as well.

This information isn’t just about healing Graves’ Disease naturally; it can also benefit those with other autoimmune diseases. It’s important to understand that you don’t have a Thyroid Problem; you have an Immune System that is ATTACKING your Thyroid, so let’s address that!

For all autoimmune conditions, including Graves’ Disease, the first step is to eliminate certain inflammatory foods that may be triggering your symptoms. This means cutting out sugar, dairy, grains, gluten, caffeine, and alcohol. Stick to whole foods like meat, vegetables, fruits, and plenty of them. Dr. Mark Hyman’s 10-day detox is posted below. This is a great plan to follow.

THE POWER OF SMOOTHIES & Hyper-Nourishing the Body!

Adding smoothies was the turning point for me! Transitioning from a carb-rich diet to a low-carb one left me feeling unsatisfied, and my body was clearly in need of nutrients. I believe smoothies have been—and continue to be—my saving grace.

Get your Blender ready! You are about to hyper nourish your body!

10oz of spinach or Kale or both (kale has been shown to slow thyroid function in large doses)

1 avocado

1 banana

1 granny smith apple

1 cup of blueberries, fresh or frozen

2 tablespoons of whole flaxseed (you can buy it here)

Take the blender and fill with the 10oz bag of spinach or kale or both push it down to make room for the rest of the ingredients.

add the rest of the rest of the fruits and seeds. Make sure to fill the pitcher with water TO THE TOP OF THE SPINACH OR KALE

any more water and you will have a big mess on your hands.

I give my Husband a 16oz smoothie every day and then I drink the rest. In the beginning I drank the whole pitcher, and it was very helpful keeping me full with all of the dietary restrictions. I have linked 2 kinds of blenders.

The Ninja was great it lasted a really long time, was affordable and a great blender to start with! I loved the easy pour top!

My husband bought me this Vitamix Blender 3 years ago and I absolutely love it. I can have a completely blended smoothie in 30 seconds!!!

GET YOUR VITAMINS!

Next up to heal your Graves’ Disease naturally, Vitamin D/K2 Most people are deficient in vitamin D. It’s absolutely crucial to get this number up for optimal Thyroid Function! It’s the only vitamin in the body that also acts as a hormone. In an Update I have added another option that I recently switched to myself. This is BlackSeed Oil with Vitamin D/K2. Blackseed oil has anti-inflammatory properties along with other Healing benefits. I wrote an article about the power of Blackseed Oil Here.

EXERCISE!

I’LL SAY IT AGAIN, EXERCISE!!

EVEN IF ITS JUST A 20 MINUTE WALK AFTER DINNER YOU HAVE GOT TO MOVE YOUR BODY!!

Strength training is ideal, resistance exercises 20/30 mins a day 3-5 times a week will make you feel so much better! I regretted working out today said No One EVER! It helps to relieve stress and get energy levels up. On days when you just aren’t feeling up to it, make yourself walk, whether it be around the house, the treadmill, or outside. I find around the 20-minute mark you start to feel better, your blood starts pumping, and it can change your entire mood.

SIT DOWN, GET QUIET & MEDITATE! 🧘

For some reason people always tune out this next thing…and it’s very frustrating because it has a huge impact on our health and lowering stress. I would also like to add that my numbers really didn’t start to move until I found a way to deal with stress. This may not be true for all. I put one person on a restricted diet and within 30 days her bloodwork is normal. If you have a rather stressful life, you need to find ways to get a handle on it.

I get it, sitting still can be tough, especially when your mind is racing. The good news is, you’re not supposed to make your mind “turn off” during meditation; instead, you’re meant to observe your thoughts without getting caught up in them.

Stress is a major contributor to disease in the body, hence the term “dis-ease.” Quieting your mind allows you to tune in to your body’s needs and reduce stress.

Guided meditations can be incredibly helpful. They not only calm the mind but also relax the body. You’ll be surprised at how tense your shoulders are when you finally take a moment to relax them. Even just 5 minutes of meditation before bed can improve your sleep and have long-term benefits.

Here is simple breathing technique to help you focus on your breath, Deep breath in through the nose for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, exhale thru the nose for 4 seconds. Stay empty for 4 seconds and repeat!

I was given these N.O.W Tone therapy meditation speakers ..at first, I thought 3 mins isn’t long enough. But actually, I found its perfect for a quick way to get centered during a busy day or great for beginners.

Meditation can offer several other benefits for autoimmune diseases like Graves’ Disease, including:

  1. Stress Reduction: Meditation is known to reduce stress, which can help manage autoimmune conditions by calming the immune system’s overactivity.
  2. Inflammation Reduction: Chronic inflammation is common in autoimmune diseases. Meditation has been shown to reduce inflammatory markers in the body.
  3. Improved Sleep: Autoimmune diseases often disrupt sleep patterns. Meditation can improve sleep quality, which is crucial for managing autoimmune conditions.
  4. Pain Management: Meditation can help manage pain associated with autoimmune diseases, offering a natural alternative or complement to medication.
  5. Emotional Well-being: Living with an autoimmune disease can be challenging emotionally. Meditation can improve emotional well-being, reduce anxiety, and enhance overall quality of life.
  6. Immune System Regulation: Meditation may help regulate the immune system, which is essential in autoimmune diseases where the immune system attacks healthy cells.
  7. Mind-Body Connection: Meditation enhances the mind-body connection, promoting awareness of how thoughts and emotions impact physical health, empowering individuals to take control of their health.

GET YOUR BEAUTY SLEEP!

Make Sure to get the proper amount of sleep! Getting the proper sleep gives your body the much-needed rest it needs and craves, to pull your body back into alignment. Shutting down electronics and staying away from food right before going to sleep is a must! I wrote an article about night-time routines here if you are interested.

FASTING

Fasting can be a game-changer for autoimmune conditions, offering a natural and powerful way to support healing. By giving your digestive system a break, fasting reduces inflammation and allows your body to focus on repairing and rejuvenating cells. This can be particularly beneficial for autoimmune diseases like Graves’ Disease, where inflammation and immune system dysfunction play a significant role. Additionally, fasting can promote the production of ketones, which are known to have anti-inflammatory effects and can help regulate the immune system. It’s important to approach fasting with caution and consult with a healthcare professional, especially if you have a complex health condition. However, when done correctly, fasting can be a powerful tool. I wrote 2 Blogs about Fasting linked Below.
